Joe Laurienti founded in Ursa Major in 2015, with the vision of enabling bolder missions in aerospace by making the world’s best propulsion systems.

Joe is an experienced engineer with a background across the engineering, manufacturing, and development of liquid rocket propulsion. Prior to founding Ursa Major, Joe worked on numerous engines and spacecraft through development, manufacturing, and flight qualification, including Blue Origin’s BE-3 engine and SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft, Merlin engine, and Merlin D Vacuum engine.

Joe holds a BS in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Southern California, where he was a member of the Rocket Propulsion Laboratory, the first undergraduate group to launch a rocket to space designed and built entirely by students. He lives in Louisville, Colorado with his wife and two dogs.
