Since August 2022, Marcelo has been the Program Director responsible for the E-Jets Freighter Development. He leads a multidisciplinary team of over 600 people inside Embraer and hundreds more spread through our supply base in Brazil, the US, and Europe.
He was part of the Embraer E-Jets E2 management team since 2010, before its business plan approval in mid-2013. One of his key roles was Program Management Structuring and implementing state-of-the-art concepts (PMO). The E2 Program received many awards. It was the first airplane project to win a PMI Global Project of the Year Winner Award (2019). It was also a 2019 Aviation Week Program Excellence Award Finalist and the 2019 Aviation Week Grand Laureate Award Winner, among other awards. Marcelo had the honor of receiving two awards on behalf of our New Programs/ E2 team: PMO of the Year 2019 (MundoPM Magazine) and PMO Leader of the Year Award 2020 - World's Top 16 (Semi-finalist), awarded by the PMO Global Alliance.
Marcelo has been with Embraer for almost 25 years. Before working as part of the E-Jets Program Management team, he worked as Customer Training Sales and Business Development Senior Manager. He led the development of the Training Business for Embraer aircraft, including the creation of ECTS (Embraer CAE Training Services) Joint Venture and training center projects (worldwide).
He holds a Computer and Electrical Engineering degree from the University of São Paulo. He also completed a Full Executive Program in Business Administration at Fundação Getúlio Vargas. He has concluded Executive Programs in Business Development at Harvard Business School and in Technology, Operations & Value Chain Management at MIT Sloan School of Management.
He has been a judge of the PMO Global Awards for four years and a lead judge for the Aviation Week Program Excellence for two years.
Marcelo has been an aviation enthusiast since childhood and shares his passion in keynote speeches.
